Women Like Us
If you’re like most of my readers, you lead a challenging life filled with an overabundance of family, social, and career responsibilities. You know you’re capable of amazing things when you’re healthy and at your best. That’s why taking care of yourself, eating right, and getting enough exercise are all important to you. You want to thrive in all areas of your life, including:
- Relationships with friends, family, and co-workers
- Your health
- Hobbies, passions, and interests
- Personal growth and development
However, the pressure we put upon ourselves to be perfect, “having it all” and “doing it all” eventually starts take a toll on our mental and physical health. Before we know it, we’re tired, unhappy, and confused about what we really want. We begin to question ourselves, our choices, our careers, even our purpose in life. We experience some type of set-back that seems to overwhelm us, and it becomes harder and harder to stay emotionally balanced and physically healthy. It can easily happen to women like us.
Are You Feeling Anxious, Overwhelmed, and Totally Stressed?
Lately, does it seem like it’s become much harder to stay calm, centered, and balanced while experiencing life’s little (or big) challenges? You know that when you feel happy and relaxed, your feelings of success, productivity, and confidence soar, too. But what about when we get so stressed-out we can’t get out of bed, can’t shake our anxiety, or can’t control our growing overwhelm? The impact toxic stress can have on our physical health and emotional well-being can be devastating. Our collective stress is reaching critical levels, and that’s not healthy. Are you one of the millions of women feeling anxious, overwhelmed, and totally stressed?
The New Normal
Today, more than ever, we’re living in a constant state of doing. Seldom do we take the time to relax and recharge before we move on to the next big challenge, obstacle, or obligation in life. We exist in a technologically-driven, perpetual state of distraction that makes it hard for us to physically slow down and relax. Constant threats to our external environment, such as global warming, the pandemic, social and political strife at home and abroad have created very real feelings of uncertainty, instability, and fear in many people. As a result, we live in a world where stressed-out has become the new normal.
Effects Of Toxic Stress
Without a doubt, stress has become a steady part of modern life. At work, we try to get ahead and achieve more by doing more. At home, we’re so used to meeting the needs of others that we often forget about our own. As a result, millions of women are experiencing toxic levels of stress on a daily basis. Weight gain, hormonal imbalances, migraine headaches, and sleep disorders are just a few of the problems that you might be experiencing as a result, too.
Just Like You, I’ve Been There
Stress can impact us in many ways. For example, some forms of stress are actually healthy and motivating in the right dose. But when stress reaches toxic levels, it can be devastating. For years I suffered from the physical and emotional turmoil caused by chronic stressors. It left me feeling exhausted, overwhelmed, anxious, and sick. At my lowest point, I doubted ever feeling healthy again. I tried everything I could think of to feel better and get my emotional and mental health back. Just like you, I’ve been there.
How Stress Took Its Toll
By my mid-thirties, the harmful effects of stress had taken its toll on me, and I needed help. One after the other I was diagnosed with multiple stress-related illnesses: adrenal fatigue, thyroid disease, food allergies, and PTSD. Looking back, I now know that I waited too long before I did anything to face up to the major stressors that were wearing me down. Sadly, I was in denial about the negative impact stress was having on me. By the time I got my wake-up call, my physical and emotional health had already become seriously compromised.
My Path to Healing
Although conventional medicine helped control my illnesses, I didn’t want to spend my life taking pills and visiting doctor’s offices. Inspired by natural health advocates like Bernard Jenson, Weston Price, and Hulda Clark, I began looking for a safe, natural, and non-evasive way to control my anxiety and stress. I spent years researching alternative medicine, nutritional healing, and naturopathic remedies to help my conditions. That’s when I came across meditation. At the time, I had no idea it would be the perfect solution for reducing my toxic stress, anxiety, and overwhelm. I discovered that it was truly my path to healing.
Meditation Changed My Life
Meditation changed my life in so many good ways mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. I felt a sense of uplifting calm almost immediately the first time I tried it. After two weeks of meditating just 20 minutes a day, I was amazed to see my anxiety begin to disappear, and real change start to happen. I began to feel more emotionally resilient, and better able to handle stressful situations without becoming overwhelmed and anxious. Best of all, I was eventually able to rid myself of the negative thoughts inside my head that had kept me from feeling peaceful, calm, and happy. Meditation changed my life.
Improved Physical Health
Meditation helped me achieve dramatic, positive changes in my physical health, too. Because my over-stimulated nervous system and “monkey-mind” started to relax, I started to sleep better. I had more energy and focus throughout the day. Body aches and pains I had for years went away. I had fewer headaches and stomachaches. The biggest surprise was that it helped me gently, yet firmly let go of the emotional stress, anxiety, and overwhelm I had been carrying with me for years, as well as the triggers that caused it.
Feel More Happy, Relaxed, and at Peace
Meditation also gave me a powerful boost in my confidence and self-esteem. I could better identify the things that were causing me stress, and start to let them go. Most importantly, I learned how to honor my wants, needs, and desires without being critical or self-judging. It taught me to feel, accept and validate my feelings, rather than dismiss them. As a consequence, I feel more happy, relaxed, and at peace with myself than ever before.
Achieve Deep and Meaningful Transformation
These days, I am truly thankful for the many blessings in my life. I’m married to a wonderful man who shares my passion for music, spicy food, and adventurous travel. We’re also the proud parents of two schnauzer rescue pups, Rascal and Roamie. In 2015, I became a certified meditation teacher to help other women struggling with anxiety, overwhelm, and stress-related illnesses. Today, I’m a reinvented classroom teacher who still loves to help people in a deep and meaningful way. Can I help you achieve that deep and meaningful transformation, too?
